Via is a local marketplace for buying and selling secondhand and independent goods, available as fixed-price listings, live shopping, or auctions, with payment protection and local courier delivery built in rather than bolted on.
How it works
Photograph an item, describe it, set a price. Listing is free: Via only earns a fee when the item actually sells.
Checkout runs through our payment processor. Payment is held during fulfillment and released after buyer confirmation, or the post-delivery grace period for courier orders.
Arrange pickup with the seller, or choose paid courier delivery at checkout, subject to availability. Use in-app messaging and available private buyer–courier relay calls.
Why it’s safe
Local buying and selling usually asks a stranger to trust another stranger with cash. Via puts the platform in the middle of that handoff instead.
- Payment protection
- Payment is held during fulfillment, with a dispute process for problems reported before release.
- Verified identities
- Sellers step through identity verification to unlock higher limits, and their level is visible on their profile.
- Reports reviewed by people
- Any listing, profile, live room, or message thread can be reported. A human reviews what comes in.
- Prices that don’t move
- What the checkout screen shows is what you pay. Fees are itemised, and off-platform surcharges are a guidelines violation.
How Via makes money
Two lines, and nothing hidden. Sellers pay a marketplace fee on the item subtotal when something sells, never on delivery. Buyers pay the Via Protection Fee, shown on its own line at checkout. Sellers who want a lower flat rate and growth tools can subscribe. Every rate is published on the pricing page.
